PrimeOCR Version 5.3 Released – Improving Production OCR Software

Woodinville, WA – Version 5.3 of PrimeOCR has been released providing improvements to enterprise OCR software conversion projects. The upgrade include Windows 8 and Windows 2012 compatibility, PDF enhancements, new auto-zoning options and processing of color/grayscale images.

The latest version 5.3 release includes:

Dynamic Thresholding Improvements – A wider range of poorly scanned grayscale and color images can be processed through optical character recognition with smarter dynamic thresholding.

Non-aligned Text Zoning – This new feature provides a way to zone and OCR text that is not located on a traditional straight line. This feature is helpful when recognizing text on engineering drawings and forms with mis-matched placed text.

Windows 2008 and Windows 2012 Server Compatibility – PrimeOCR continues to run on the latest Windows operating systems.

Process PDF Encrypted/Password Protected Files – With a customer provided password, PrimeOCR can open, read and process PDF files that are password protected. PDF files generated by PrimeOCR can also be protected with a password.

Page Based PDF Processing – PDF content can be analyzed to see if just a portion of a page should be processed through OCR. This new feature preserves PDF files/pages that are partially searchable or that already have electonic content and recognized text from non-searchable features of a PDF file.

Improved OCR Accuracy through “Voting” Technology

Developed for the production OCR marketplace, PrimeOCR is an “omnifont” Windows™ based software OCR engine and Application Programming Interface (API) toolkit that uses a combination of proprietary “Voting” algorithms and technology licensed from the best retail OCR vendors.

PrimeOCR is able to reduce OCR errors by an average of 65-82% over the best conventional OCR software products while providing much cleaner data by implementing “Voting” technology.  Since manual error correction can account for over 50% of an imaging system cost, by lowering error rates, PrimeOCR can reduce annual operating costs by 35%.

Designed around a fault tolerant architecture, PrimeOCR provides the production OCR marketplace with a reliable OCR software solution that generates cleaner results than conventional OCR software.

PrimeOCR has won a number of awards, including two “Product of the Year” awards from Imaging Magazine, and a “Top 10 of AIIM.”
